Guests at Gloucester House in 1922. The details of the facade indicate that this was the same establishment as Gloucester Hotel, also known as Gloucester Boarding House. The proprietor of Gloucester House was Thomas George Hacquoil, son of Edward and Rachel Jane, nee Le Cornu [1]
... then we obtained this 1898 advert indicating that it was at the Weighbridge. But this cannot be a genuine view from the hotel because that would position it either where the Royal Yacht Hotel stands or on the opposite side of Mulcaster Street, where the Star Hotel made the corner. The location of the Great Western remained a mystery until it was established that this was not the view from the hotel, but a view of the hotel, which was the building on the left edge of the drawing in Caledonia Place
Greve d'Azette Hotel was built as a private house by the Beghin family, who founded town-centre shoe shops.
