A relatively unusual example, in Jersey, of a 1928 house in a style influenced by the Arts and Crafts tradition and the more eclectic approach to architectural composition of the period.
The property was built for Benjamin Lang on land purchased from Sir Jesse Boot. Architect unknown. Originally called Whins, after the nearby gorse, the house was purchased by the daughters of Thomas Benjamin Davis in 1955 and renamed Westward after their father's famous racing schooner.
Greatly extended early 21st century. The original house retains its 1928 external form and detailing and is particularly notable for its prominent gabled wings and central loggia.
The house sits on a raised terrace overlooking gardens. The main body of the house is four-bay, 2-3 storeys with an asymmetrical plan.
