Keeping holidaymakers active
There was no shortage of tourists in Jersey in 1939, as the storm clouds of war gathered over Europe. Even the following year, as the war seemed to remain distant to the east, holidaymakers again made visits to the island.
These were the days when tourists demanded more than just a bed to sleep in and three square meals a day. They needed to be entertained, and one way of doing so was to provide physical education sessions on the beach. These pictures appeared in an issue of The Islander in 1939 <center>
