Perhaps not quite as famous as Pooley's Grand Pavilion Hotel, which stood across the road, Greve de Lecq Hotel was nevertheless a very popular establishment in the late 19th century and into the 20th, both as a hotel and for its restaurant

Unlike the sign writer who managed to surmount the 'e' in Greve de Lecq with a circumflex (ê), rather than a grave (è) accent.
