Origin of surname
No information has been found relating specifically to 'Croissard' but it would seem likely that it is related to Croissant, a name known in Brittany and either indicating a person who lived near crossroads or in a hamlet callet Croissant.
Early records
Next to nothing is known about this family, which first appears in church records in Jersey at the start of the 17th century and has disappeared after 200 years. Three baptisms were registered to different fathers in 1605-1611 and it is possible that they were brothers. The majority of registry entries for the family were in St Martin.
The name would appear to be of French origin, and is found in Guernsey. Strangely the name is not included in the comprehensive list of Jersey surnames compiled by Charles Stevens in 1970. The family tree below includes the majority of the Croissards in the church registers.

New records
