Charles Le Brocq

Charles Le Brocq was born in Jersey in 1829 and emigrated to Australia, living briefly in New Zealand. He died in 1909

"The funeral of the late Charles Le Brocq took place yesterday and was largely attended. The late Mr Le Brocq was born in the island of Jersey in 1829. In 1853 he left his home for Australia arriving in Melbourne by the sailing ship Chowringee. After a few weeks sojourn in Melbourne he left for New Zealand but soon after he landed in that colony the Maori War broke out and he decided to return to Australia, arriving in Brisbane in 1860.
"He entered into business, building the Metropolitan Baths, and after eight years residence in Brisbane visited his former home in Jersey. While there he married and in 1869 left again for Australia. In 1875 he again visited Jersey accompanied by his family and on selling the baths in 1886 he made another trip of nine months to England. The deceased leaves a widow and seven grown-up children."
